THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA VISITS WASHINGTON, DC At the invitation of the US President Barak Obama, an Armenian delegation led by the President of the Republic of Armenia H.E. Serzh Sargsyan participated in the Nuclear Security Summit, held in Washington, DC on April 12-13, and had high-level bilateral meetings with US officials. The President of Armenia had meetings with his American counterpart Barak Obama, and the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. On the margins of the Summit the President also met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan.
During the meeting the Presidents of Armenia and the United States discussed the prospects of development of American-Armenian bilateral relations. Serzh Sargsyan and Barak Obama spoke also about the Armenian-Turkish process of normalization, exchanged thoughts on regional developments, and spoke about the current stage of the Nagorno Karabakh peace process.
The president of the Republic of Armenia visits Washington, DC In the meeting with the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations was discussed. The US Secretary of State reiterated the US position to continue the process of normalization of relations between the two countries without preconditions. The President and the Secretary also discussed the issues of Armenian-American bilateral relations, and the process of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
President Sargsyan also visited the Washington National Cathedral, where he laid a wreath at the tomb of American President Woodrow Wilson. While addressing hundreds of Armenian-American community members gathered at the Cathedral, the President mentioned: "Armenian-American community, particularly in recent decades, has become one of the most ardent and tenacious constituents in the process of the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, and I am confident that you will double your efforts. Nobody can stop the inevitable...Opinions in Motherland and Diaspora do not diverge, there is one united Armenian nation and it stands behind its just cause."
 The PreThe president of the Republic of Armenia visits Washington, DCsident also had meetings with members of Armenian Assembly of America and a delegation of the ARF bureau members. During these meetings issues related to the preservation of the Armenian identity, Armenia-Diaspora relations, the role of the Armenian Diaspora structures in strengthening these relations, and the current stage of the Armenian-Turkish process of normalization were discussed.
