ARMENIA’S INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT THE CORCORAN GALLERY OF ART

On September 24th the Embassy of Armenia organized an event celebrating the 19th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia. The students of the "Sayat Nova" music school of Yerevan, led by renowned musician Mr. Tigran Hekekyan, performed a concert at the Corcoran Gallery of Art on this occasion. The concert, which included pieces from Sayat Nova, Komitas, Aram Khachaturyan, and Arno Babajanyan, was a great success. Ambassador of Armenia H. E. Tatoul Markarian greeted the audience and congratulated all present on the 19th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence. In his speech the Ambassador spoke about the accomplishments achieved during the 19 years of independence, stressed the importance of further strengthening our independent statehood, and the role the Diaspora can play in it.

More than 200 guests were present at the wonderful concert, including US government officials, representatives of international organizations, and the Armenian-American community.
