28 February, 2015

On February 28, in the framework of the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, “Hamazkayin” Armenian Educational and Cultural Society organized a presentation of New-York based Herand Markarian’s new book at the hall of the Soorp Khatch Armenian Apostolic Church. “The Martyred Armenian Writers 1915-1922” written in English tells about the life and literary legacy of 13 Armenian writers killed during the years of the Armenian Genocide.

In his remarks addressed to the guests of the event H.E. Tigran Sargsyan, Ambassador of Armenia to the United States attached great importance to Mr. Markarian’s patriotic project to make the Armenian culture accessible to the foreign audience. "Herand Markarian’s initiative is also important in regards with introducing the literary legacy of the Armenian people to the new generation of the Armenian-American community”, noted the Ambassador.

During the event pieces of remarkable representatives of the Armenian Literature – Siamanto, Ruben Sevag, Daniel Varuzhan and other were recited.
