Ambassador of Armenia participated in the National Advocacy Conference

On September 16-17, the National Advocacy Conference organized by Armenian Assembly of America was held in Washington.
Ambassador Nersesyan delivered remarks during the panel discussion titled “The Armenia-U.S. Relations: Democratic Reforms and U.S. Assistance” and reflected on the dynamic development of the Armenia-U.S. bilateral relations since the independence of Armenia, emphasized the importance of the US assistance to the large-scale reforms launched by the Armenian government aimed at strengthening the democratic institutions, rule of law, judicial and legal system, as well as fight against corruption. The Ambassador particularly highlighted the role and efforts exerted by the US as an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair country aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The Ambassador commended the endeavors made by the Armenian-American community particularly by the Armenian Assembly of America and other US-Armenian organizations to promote Armenian issues in US Congress and Senate.

During the Gala dinner held on the same day honoring Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Ambassador Nersesyan read out congratulatory messages by Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Armen Sarkissian.

On September 17, during the Congressional reception organized by the US-Armenian Assembly, Ambassador Nersesyan touched upon the continued development of the relations since the independence and the ongoing active dialogue on different levels between the two countries. Reflecting on the humanitarian assistance provided to Nagorno Karabakh over the years, Ambassador Nersesyan stressed the importance of this support for the Artsakh people. Undoubtedly, the Nagorno Karabakh people’s path toward building a society based on democratic values is irrevocable.

The Ambassador of Armenia also highlighted the democratic changes in Armenia, noting that these created additional opportunities for the further deepening and enhancing of the bilateral relations between the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America.
