On June 18, "Nation under the lockdown, borderless through Diaspora" webinar was held upon the initiative of FAST (Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology). Varuzhan Nersesyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the USA, Zareh Sinanyan, High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Ruben Vardanyan, Founder of FAST, Nadia Gortzounian, Chair of AGBU Europe, Sara Anjargolian, Diaspora Affairs Chief of Staff, were the panelists of the Webinar.
Ambassador Nersesyan touched upon the activity of the Embassy during the Pandemic, noting that it was actively cooperating with the American state institutions, as well as with the representatives of the American-Armenian community, religious leaders, and of the American-Armenian association of doctors.
During this period two online discussions were held: representatives of the American-Armenian community, religious leaders, as well as Tigran Avinyan, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs were among the participants.
The current situation with the Pandemic both in Armenia and in the American-Armenian community were discussed comprehensively during the online meetings.
The Ambassador highlighted that upon active collaboration with the American relevant institutions and the American-Armenian community it was possible to organize the repatriation of more than 150 people from the East coast, and through the General Consulate in Los Angeles of approximately 370 people from the West Coast.
The Armenian Ambassador highlighted the initiative launched by the American-Armenian community to provide aid to the Americans in need, noting that the Embassy joined it as well.
