Оn September 20 Ambassador Makunts had a meeting with US Senator Gary Peters (D-Michigan). During the meeting the Ambassador briefed the Senator on the current security situation in and around Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. The key issue of discussion was the September 19th unprovoked large-scale attack on Nagorno Karabakh, which followed months-long blockade of the Lachin corridor. The Ambassador specifically underlined the necessity of ensuring the rights and security of the Nagorno Karabakh people. The role and engagement of the United States in the stabilization of the situation was also discussed.
