On September 10, upon the invitation of The Knights and Daughters of Vartan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United States of America Varuzhan Nersesyan, along with the Staff members of the Embassy, as well as many representatives of the Armenian community of Washington D.C. participated in the celebration of the 28th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia in the St Mary Armenian Apostolic Church.

Ambassador Nersesyan touched upon the achievements gained during the years of Independence, the victory in the Artsakh liberation war as well as the Diaspora’s role as a in developing and strengthening of Armenia. In this context he stressed the importance of Pan-Armenianism concept.

Speaking about the Armenian non violent, velvet, democratic revolution of 2018, and the achievements gained since the Revolution, the Ambassador highlighted the vision on the development of Armenia till 2050 announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the Renaissance Square, Artsakh Republic and emphasized the significance of Diaspora’s active engagement – as a stakeholder, in the implementation of these goals.

Archbishop Vicken Aykazian in his remarks congratulated on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Independence and emphasized the importance of the unity of all the Armenians.

At the end of the meeting Ambassador Nersesyan answered the questions of the participants.
