Ambassador of Armenia meets with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense

On February 12, 2015, H.E. Tigran Sargsyan, Ambassador of Armenia to the United States, had a meeting with Dr. Evelyn Farkas, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of the United States of America. The meeting was held at the Pentagon within the framework of the US-Armenian ongoing defense cooperation. Armenian Ambassador was accompanied by the Armenian Defense Attaché, Col. Mesrop Nazarian, and the Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Hrachia Tashchian.

The parties discussed the prospects of developing US-Armenia military-to-military and military-political cooperation. They also touched upon a number of issues related to the international peace and security as well as regional security challenges in the South Caucasus.

The American side expressed its commitment to continue assistance in enhancing Armenia’s capacities for participating in peacekeeping operations and developing its defense institutions through expertise, training and education. During the meeting, the parties also pointed out their willingness to continue joint efforts aimed at combating international terrorism and maintaining international peace and security.
