Ambassador Makunts's visit to Fresno

On October 23rd, H.E. Lilit Makunts, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the USA visited Fresno to attend 102nd Annual Banquet of the Armenian Missionary Association of America.

In her speech the Ambassador acknowledged AMAA's support to Armenians in need throughout a century long activity, highlighting the tremendous aid after the devastating earthquake of 1988, during the first Artsakh war, throughout our independence and after the Second Artsakh war underscoring the immense humanitarian activity on the ground.

Ambassador Makunts also touched upon the educational projects run by AMAA worldwide marking it as an effective channel of unity of Armenians living in Armenia, in Artsakh and in Diaspora.

During her one-day visit to Fresno, Ambassador Makunts met with Fresno city councilmember Mike Karbassy and Professor Harry Harris. A range of cooperation issues of mutual interest were touched upon.

On October 24, Ambassador Makunts attended the liturgy in Saint Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church in Fowler and the liturgy in Holy Trinity Apostolic Church in Fresno.

Ambassador Makunts laid flowers at the monument dedicated to the Armenian Genocide martyrs in the park of Fresno State University.

Ambassador visited William Saroyan House Museum. Afterwards H.E. Makunts visited Armenian cemetry and laid flowers at the tombs of Soghomon Tehlirian and William Saroyan.
