The meetings of Foreign Minister of Armenia in New York

On September 23, on the margins of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a meeting with the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Stéphane Visconti (France), Andrew Schofer (USA) and Igor Khovaev (Russia). Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk also participated in the meeting.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, emphasizing the importance  of the peace process resumption under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship, which will contribute to the establishment of stability and security in the region.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed Armenia's support for the joint statements of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs following the 44-day war, which underlined the need for a lasting and sustainable settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on well-known principles and elements.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized the priority of implementing concrete steps towards the de-escalation of the situation in the region.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs exchanged views on addressing urgent humanitarian issues. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the imperative for the immediate and unconditional repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and captured civilians held in Azerbaijan.

On September 24, a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan was held with the mediation and participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

During the five-party meeting, the Foreign Minister of Armenia expressed the readiness of the Armenian side to resume the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed the position expressed at the meeting with the Co-Chairs on the need for de-escalation and addressing  humanitarian issues.

The Co-Chairs reiterated their commitment to continue working with the sides to find comprehensive solutions to all issues related to or resulting from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in accordance with their mandate.
