Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries

On September 26, in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UNGA, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered remarks at the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries.

In his remarks, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia noted that due to geographical constraints LLDCs find themselves deprived of the benefits of full integration into global trade, economic diversification and attracting investments.

The Awaza Programme of Action was touched upon and its role was emphasized as a roadmap to overcome the multifaceted challenges. In this vein, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia stressed the importance of adequate financing, robust partnerships and infrastructure development.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan reiterated the commitment of Armenia to advancing the peace and stability agenda and briefed the participants on the provisions of the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative of the Government of Armenia, emphasizing its role in fostering inclusive, non-discriminatory and equitable transport and trade connectivity in the South Caucasus.

The Deputy Foreign Minister touched upon the agreements reached in Washington on August 8 and the initialed peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Robert Abisoghomonyan emphasized the pivotal agreement on the restoration of communications, grounded in the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and national jurisdiction and presented the TRIPP project as a key component of the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative.
