The Republic of Armenia adopted the Law “On Identification Documents”, which provides for the introduction of a new biometric identification document system in the Republic of Armenia

Please be informed that on May 11, 2026, the Republic of Armenia adopted the Law “On Identification Documents”, which provides for the introduction of a new biometric identification document system in the Republic of Armenia.

In connection with the implementation of the new system and to facilitate the transition process, as of 5 October 2026, the provision of passport issuance (replacement) services through the Embassies and Consular Offices of the Republic of Armenia, including via video link, will be temporarily suspended.

Further information regarding the resumption of the service will be published through the official information platforms of the diplomatic service bodies.
