An official celebration marking the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia was held at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C., bringing together representatives of U.S. government institutions, members of the diplomatic community, representatives of the Armenian-American community, and friends of Armenia.

The event was dedicated to the anniversary of Armenia’s independence, the strengthening of Armenian-American relations, and new opportunities for peace, security, economic development, and cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Narek Mkrtchyan delivered welcoming remarks. The event also featured remarks by Jeffrey Kessler, Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security; Peter Andreoli, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State; Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of Physical AI Simulation at NVIDIA.

In his remarks, Ambassador Mkrtchyan underscored the historical significance of Armenia’s independence and addressed the country’s current development trajectory, emphasizing the strategic importance of establishing and maintaining peace as a fundamental prerequisite for regional security, economic development, and cooperation among peoples.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan emphasized the importance of deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Armenia and the United States, with particular focus on the historic summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, and the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) initiative.

Addressing sectoral cooperation between the two countries, the speakers discussed expanding Armenian-American collaboration in super intelligence, semiconductors, energy, infrastructure, and critical minerals, emphasizing the new opportunities this cooperation creates for both countries.

The event also highlighted cooperation between the Embassy of Armenia and the Museum of the Bible, with Ambassador Mkrtchyan and Matthias Perttula, Director of Executive Affairs at the Museum of the Bible, delivering remarks on this topic.
